　　嘉宾简介： 

　　Prof. Hal Alper is the Paul D. & Betty Robertson Meek Centennial Professor in Chemical Engineering and Frank A. Liddell, Jr. Centennial Fellow at The University of Texas at Austin. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2006 and was a postdoctoral research associate at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research from 2006-2008, and at Shire Human Genetic Therapies from 2007-2008. Dr. Alper also serves on the Graduate Studies Committee for the Cell and Molecular Biology Department and the Biochemistry Department. His research focuses on applying and extending the approaches of related fields such as synthetic biology, systems biology, and protein engineering. Dr. Alper has published over 80 articles and 8 book chapters that have been cited over 6000 times and has an h-index of 36. Dr. Alper is the recipient of many academic awards, such as the Camille and Henry Dreyfus New Faculty Award in 2008, the Texas Exes Teaching Award in 2009, and the DuPont Young Investigator Award in 2010.
