Abstract:
Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) is one of the most sensitive and fastest techniques in analytical chemistry. It works based on ionization of the sample and measuring the flight time of the ions in atmospheric pressure moving under an electric field. The ions are separated based on their mass and size. Different ionization sources have been used in IMS. In this lecture some types of ionization sources developed in Isfahan University of Technology will be describe. In addition, the ability of IMS in thermodynamics and kinetics study of ion-molecule reactions will be presented.
