  PhD in biomedical sciences with more than twenty years of research and project management experience in immunology, stem cell and cancer research; vaccine development and production. Maintain certifications as Project Management Professional (PMP) and Regulatory Affairs Certified (RAC, US). 

  报告摘要: 

  Biomarker discovery and the translation of the discovery to diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or prophylactic use are essential for improving people’s health and saving lives. In this presentation, the biomarker discovery using a unique precision tissue sampling and genetic and proteomic analyses are reviewed.  Laser micro-dissection is used for precision tissue sampling, genetic approach such FISH, SSCP, LOH, restriction analysis, and sub-cloning and sequencing, and proteomic approach such as 2D gel and mass analysis are used for biomarker identification.  Further, a cell-based approach is reviewed for the potential for providing cell based therapy. Examples of diseases studied include AIDS, ADA-SCID, tumor suppressor gene or oncogene induced tumors, neuroblastomas, malaria, and influenza.  Example of the translation of discovered biomarkers are reviewed in the applications of HIV, malaria, and influenza in the format of antibody, gene therapy, and vaccine products. The process and steps in advancing translational sciences, such as product development and control of quality, safety, and efficacy are reviewed. A research interest in the biomarker discovery and translation of hepato-carcinogenesis is proposed using analysis of mouse model, stem cell, and human tissues.
