   新加坡国立大学化学与生物分子工程系教授。研究方向是有机电子与纳米材料,基于水溶性共轭高分子化学与生物传感器材料的设计、合成与性能,以及新型染料敏化电池的制备。自2000年以来,发表论文217篇(H因子44),持有20项专利。2006年获得新加坡国立大学杰出青年研究学者奖、2008获得新加坡科学技术杰出青年科学家奖、2011年获得新加坡欧莱雅女性科学家国家研究奖、1012年获得新加坡国立大学工学院青年研究学者奖2013年获得新加坡国立大学杰出青年研究学者奖 

  报告简介: 

    Cellular sensing and imaging using fluorescent probes is an important technique in understanding the function and mechanism of target biological species in cells. These probes are largely based on small size fluorescent proteins, organic dyes or inorganic quantum dots (QDs), which have limitations such as small extinction coefficients and poor photostability (for the former two) and cytotoxicity (for QDs). Our recent studies have shown that specially designed organic nanoparticles have shown low cytotoxicity, high photostability and are able to deliver orders-of-magnitude improvements in signal output as compared to commercial dyes. When the size of organic nanoparticles is further reduced to less than 30 nm (defined as organic dots), they could serve as QD replacement in various sensing and imaging applications. In this talk, we will discuss how we advance the organic nanoparticles from conjugated polyelectrolytes, conjugated polymers to the luminogens with aggregation induced emission characteristics (AIE dots), and highlight their unique applications in targeted cell imaging, intracellular target detection, multiplexing, multimodal imaging, long-term cell tracing as well as in image-guided therapy.
